This week I had the opportunity to work with Barb from Kiefer Uniforms in Green Bay.  Their slogan is “Getting You To Work In Comfort & Style”.  I can’t think of anything worse than wearing something to work that you hate or that isn’t comfortable.  This slogan really shows how much Barb’s team cares about providing patterns and styles that are current and fabric that is comfortable to wear every day of the week.  We Wisconsin-ites sure love seeing the unique Brewer and Packer prints…but she has prints galore!  

Barb showed me around her new store.  Kiefer Uniforms is located at 1929 S. Webster Avenue in Green Bay.  This location is a much better fit, and it’s great to see how much she’s grown over the years.  From a room in her home, in 1984, with one sewing machine, she’s not only expanded into an awesome retail space, but also onto the World Wide Web with a fully functional e-commerce website. The uniform industry is very competitive, so making sure she is meeting the needs for local and non-local customers is the key to her success.

The interactions with customers showed me how loyal they are to Kiefer’s brands, patterns and current styles.  People stopped in and tried on newly released patterns.  One customer in particular mentioned that she shopped the website first, then came in and purchased the items she needed for work.  She was from a restaurant and needed a new work uniform.  Kiefer offers a wide variety of uniforms; for schools, medical, and restaurant industries… I can see why Barb is so proud.  She really makes a lot of people happy.  

To remain competitive, Barb uses “Quebert”, which is our email marketing tool.  I had a chance to do some data entry with her and it made me appreciate how easy it is to keep information up to date.  We discussed sending her next Quebert campaign out and how happy she is that when people read her messages, they can easily click on the link of sale items and order directly from her website.  The e-commerce website we built for her (kieferuniforms.com) has been like opening a whole new store and has allowed her to reach customers from coast to coast. This has really expanded her territory and customer base.
